Closely related to, Jerusalem Artichoke, a centuries old Native American food crop, these two are often used interchangeably. This is a great choice for chop-and-drop mulch at the end of the growing season by providing habitat for beneficial insects to overwinter and adding organic material to soil.

Sow Maximillian Sunflower seeds in the Fall or use cold moist stratification for 8-10 weeks before Spring planting into a prepared seedbed 1/8” deep in full sun.
